What Have We Been Up To?

Momo and Beatrice after we just finished reading a book.

Michael and Erick looking at the book we are about to read.
One of my favorite things to do with the kids is to read books with them. I do it as often as I can with all of the kids.

Wycliff using bottle caps to show he recognizes his numbers and can count the number on the card.
As all my teacher friends can attest to, we tend to keep things because we think maybe one day I might use that. Well, thanks to someone else being the same way, I have these different colored pop bottle caps. We use them for counting, sorting and patterns.

We have also been using blocks for counting/one-to-one correspondence, color and letter recognition, vocabulary and for fun building things and watching them fall.

Pancakes, Sausage and Cake Oh My!

David enjoying his pancake.

We wanted to do something special for the kids this morning for Christmas. So we made pancakes, sausage and a Happy Birthday Jesus cake. The kids were so excited. I was upstairs working on the sausage and I could hear the excitement downstairs as the kids began enjoying their pancakes. Today is just going to be a lot of pictures of the kids enjoying their special breakfast. Some of the photos the kids just wanted me to take close-ups of them. I thought I would share them with you! Merry Christmas from the Africa Gospel Church Baby Centre!

Going Home for Christmas

This week has been so amazing. God is doing great things here. If you can believe it, we have had seven children who went home with their forever families this week. I am so thankful these children will get to spend Christmas with their families. The first four pictures are the boys and girls who went home today, December 20. Please pray for these families as they start their new life together.

Joshua Alumasi was so excited today to get ready to meet his new Mommy and Daddy. They said how blessed they feel to be able to gain a son today.

Jael's mom was so thrilled to finally see her new daughter that she almost could not contain her happiness. Tears began flowing and she didn't want to let go of Jael from the moment she first held her.

Jared with his mom and dad!

This next group of boys went home with their forever families on Tuesday of this week.

Peter immediately snuggled into his mommy's arms and wouldn't let her go.

Adam's parents were so happy and thrilled to be adding to their family. The smiles never left their faces.

Alex ran in and immediately hugged his new Mommy and Daddy he was so happy.

We also received a new little girl today. Her name is Rachel Salome.

Moving and Chatting Up a Storm

Over the last three weeks I have been very busy with things outside of the AGC Baby Centre. I went to a training for four days, helped with VBS the next week, and then we had a field meeting at the beginning of this week. As many of you who have children know, kids learn new things so quickly. The following is an update of things I have noticed the kids doing in the last few weeks or since I have been back and spending more one-on-one time with them.

You cannot see his face, but this is James. The last time I shared with you he was swimming across the floor to get where he wanted. Now he is in full crawl mode. When he fist started crawling you would have thought he was in the Indy 500. He would race across the room. He started this about three weeks ago and is now trying to stand. Today he was pulling himself to a standing position, using my pant leg.

This is a photo of David. Over the last couple of months he had been pulling himself up and walking alongside the furniture. While I was at training he had figured out he could do it on his own. At first he was toddling along and would stumble and fall. He has very quickly figured out how to keep himself upright.

This cutie is Jospeh. He and I have been working together on sitting up and he for the most part can keep himself up now. That is unless he gets distracted by someone walking by. Then he tips over because he leans too far. He is a talker too. If you walk in the baby wing the kids are just talking back and forth to each other. I of course have no idea what they are saying but they just talk up a storm, especially when they are sitting in a circle.

Stephen

Joshua
These two love being read to. They will often babble and talk to me as I read them stories in the afternoon.

I feel blessed that God has me here. I am so thankful that God cares about children and their futures. In fact I was reading a Bible story to the babies this afternoon based off from Luke 18:15-17: "People were also bringing babies to Jesus to have Him touch them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to Him and said 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.' " Please pray as these kids continue to grow and develop that they will also grow to know more about God and His love for them.
